The Readers Choice Awards 2011 / 2012.

Foothill Gym has been voted Best of the Best in The Readers Choice Awards 2011 / 2012. This marks the 6 year in a row by the readers of the Monrovia Weekly, Arcadia Weekly, Pasadena Independent, Sierra Madre Weekly and the Temple City Tribune. This years awards included "Best Fitness Center", "Personal Trainer of the Year (Brian Whelan)", "Best Yoga Program" and "Best Pilates Program".

HANS HOPSTAKEN AWARD

On June 26th 2010, at the West Coast Bodybuilding and Figure Classic, Blair Gannam of IronCompany presented Brian Whelan with The Hans Hopstaken Award for Most Inspirational Bodybuilder. On June 25, 2011 Brian Whelan had the honor of presenting this years Hans Hopstaken Award to Elena Viera. Elena dieted, trained and competed in the Figure 45+ Division at the West Coast Classic while undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Mr and Ms Muscle Beach 2010 and 2011

Brian and Jennifer Whelan took 1st Place in the couples class winning the Title Mr and Ms Muscle Beach 2010 at the legendary July 4th Contest held at Venice beach California. Jennifer also won the Masters (35+) Figure and Overall as well as the Open Figure and Overall giving her the 2010 Ms Muscle Beach Figure Title. Jennifer returned on July 4th 2011 to win the Bikini division.

Monroe Award - Business Person of The Year

Brian Whelan, owner of Foothill Gym, was the recipient of the "Monroe Award - Business Person of The Year" for outstanding service to the community, presented by the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce and the City of Monrovia. Foothill Gym also received a " Certificate of Recognition from the United States Congress" by Congressman David Drier . "Certificate of Recognition from the California State Senate" by Senator Bob Margett . "Commendation from the County of Los Angeles" by Supervisor Michael Antonavich . "Certificate of Recognition from the California Legislature" by Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy Foothill Gym was also awarded the "California Small Business of the Year" by the National Congressional Committee by Congressman Tom Reynolds

IHRSA

Foothill Gym has been a member of IHRSA (International Health, Racquet and Sports club Association) since 1999. IHRSA sets the gold standard for health clubs throughout the world.

Firm Award

Foothill Gym was Awarded the "Firm Award" by the Chamber of Commerce for the best renovation of a business building in Monrovia.

Top Five Health Clubs in L.A.

Foothill Gym was chosen as one of the "Top Five Health Clubs in L.A." by the TV show L.A's Best.

Supporting Our Troops

Foothill Gym has given 150 lifetime memberships to Monrovians who were serving in the armed forces. Each membership card bearing the Blue Star along with the following letter:

"As we keep the memory of 9/11 in our hearts and minds it is important that we never forget those who gave their lives, their loved ones left behind, and you. For it is you who defends our nation and enable us to retain our freedoms and the freedoms of our children. From a small business in the City of Monrovia, we would like to show our support to you and all Monrovians serving our nation and say thank you to you by adding our services to the Blue Star program. We extend to you, a lifetime “Blue Star” membership to Foothill Gym. We wish you to know the level of our gratitude and our never-ending, never fading support. 40th Infantry Division Honors

The 40th Infantry Division honored Foothill Gym for their support of our troops fighting terrorism by presenting the gym with a certificate which we proudly display at the club.

Mission Flag From Iraq

In a very moving ceremony, The United States Army presented Foothill Gym with a Mission Flag from Iraq and a Certificate of Appreciation at City Hall. The entire division petitioned that the flag be carried on behalf of Foothill Gym during a mission in Iraq. The flag was then flown home and presented to us.

Serving Our Community

Brian Whelan was appointed by the Mayor of Monrovia to the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board in 2003 and in June 2008 Brian was appointed Chairman of the Board where he was re-appointed in 2011 and still serves. Brian is also a past director of the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce.
